Its nice to have some time off to refuel for the classroom! I've been thinking about changing up vocabulary strategies and decided on LGL or "List Group Label." I haven't used this in awhile, its a great interactive vocabulary strategy, especially for science and social studies units. Watch the LGL Strategy in action:List-Group-Label-Video. Grab your freebies so you can use LGL with your kiddos! I created two different styles and a sample for each. I also included detailed directions on how to use LGL with your class! Teal Pumpkin Project

Click the above link to learn more about this project.  FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education) is encouraging families celebrating Halloween to display a teal pumpkin on their porch.  The teal pumpkin is  a sign to families managing food allergies that non-food treats are available at that home.
I can't think of an easier way to help all children have fun on Halloween!!

Grade One Vocab Fun !

As promised an engaging vocabulary tool for the Journeys First Grade Reading Series!  This unit focuses on the 30 "Words to Know" in the first unit.  Any classroom learning beginning sight words would love this product!
I LOVE the hole punch cards, I copy them on card stock, this forces kiddos to use those hand muscles!  Another option could be to laminate the card and use a dry erase to cross of the word around the border.
The Color, Write, Build sheets are perfect in literacy centers, small group or even homework!  If we have enough time, I let students stamp the words on the back :)  That's always an incentive to stay on task!
Differentiated Roll a word can be played in a group or  by individual students.
Check back soon for the rest of the units!!!

Show Me App-Tens and Ones Strategy

As the App describes: ShowMe is the easiest way to create and share whiteboard-style tutorials or ShowMes! I fell in love with this App when I saw how easy it was to use! The people you share ShowMes with don't need an ipad. The App offers an embedding code for bloggers or a link to send via email. This is a great way to communicate with parents about what is going on in the room. Try ShowMe, you'll be happy you did! I made "ShowMe" explaining the 10s and ones addition strategy....enjoy!

Create a Color Word Booklet

Rainbow the Snowy Owl- Create a Color Word Booklet
Color Word Booklets!
I fell in L-O-V-E  with Ashley Hughes' owl clip art!  I bought it not knowing what I would do, I just knew they had to be mine!  I decided to create a color word booklet.  I have three styles of booklets: write the word, trace gray letters, and trace dotted letters.   I have included the colored owl cards as well as black and white.  The color cards would be great laminated and on a ring or posted in a pocket chart.  Thanks for stopping byu and checking them out!
I have to work on Monday, ugh! I hope your all off at home, taking time to be creative!
